A two month investigation led Jackson Madison County Metro Narcotics Investigators to 438 Old Humboldt Road last night. During a search of the residence investigators discovered meth lab inside the home. Investigators also discovered numerous chemicals and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine. While investigators were on the scene, the persons who reside at the home drove past officers at the scene.  Investigators conducted a traffic stop and the occupants were identified as Michael Brian Reid, age 32, and Darci Kathlene Sweitzer, age 27.  They were taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Jail.  At the time of their arrest, officers also found a small amount of marijuana in their possession.  The Drug Enforcement Administration was contacted to dispatch a hazardous materials contractor to the scene for clean-up.

While some Metro Narcotics investigators remained on the scene of the lab at the Old Humboldt Road address, other investigators went to 314 Westwood Avenue to conduct an investigation of a possible meth lab at that residence.  During a search of the premises, investigators located a black duffle bag in the rear seat of a vehicle belonging to Jason Randall Rogers, age 35, of Whispering Hills Drive in Jackson.  The bag contained chemicals and equipment to manufacture meth.  Investigators also found a bag in which a container was emitting a chemical smoke indicating part of the reaction was still in process.  More chemicals equipment used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were found inside the home.  Additionally, investigators found methamphetamine, syringes and scales inside the home.  Jeremy Vaughn Bartholomew, age 35, is the tenant at this address.  The Drug Enforcement Administration was also contacted on this case to dispatch a hazardous materials contractor to the scene for clean-up. Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Jail.

Investigators remained on the scene of both labs until the cleanup process was complete.

In addition to last night’s lab seizures, investigators also were able to connect Michael Reid, Darci Sweitzer and Jason Rogers to a lab discovered on Express Drive in North Jackson.  That investigation began on January 13, 2010 and they each have been charged today in that case as well.

Michael Reid and Darci Sweitzer, both of 438 Old Humboldt Road have been charged with 2 counts of Initiation of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Promotion of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Both Reid and Sweitzer are still being held in the Madison County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond each.

Jason Rogers and Jeremy Bartholomew have been charged with Initiation of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Promotion to Manufacture Meth.  Rogers faces a second charge of Initiation of Methamphetamine Manufacture on the Express Drive case.  Both Rogers and Bartholomew are still being held in the Madison County Jail pending their arraignment in Jackson City Court tomorrow morning.

If you have information on this case or any suspected drug activity, please contact the Jackson Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit at 731-424-6485 or CrimeStoppers at 731-424-TIPS (8477).
