Man Pleads
Guilty to Child Sexual Assault Charges  Jimmy
New, age 55 and formerly of Bemis, pled guilty yesterday afternoon in
Circuit Court Division II. New pled guilty to one (1) count of Rape of a
Child, two (2) counts of Attempted Rape of a Child, two (2) counts of
Solicitation to commit Rape of a Child and one (1) count of Aggravated
Sexual Battery. He received a total effective sentence of fifteen (15)
years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections to be served at 100%.In August 2007, Jackson Police Investigators received information that New was attempting and offering to pay his neighbor and mother of an eight and a twelve-year-old daughter to allow him to have sex with them. During an undercover operation, Investigators recorded New as he further offered money for time with the children and discussed further specifics with the mother. During the course of that investigation, another victim came forward to report that New had molested her in the mid-1990’s when she was approximately eight years old. New admitted to Investigators that he had molested the child.
