Memphis, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced today it will be closing lanes in both directions on the 45 Bypass (SR 186) bridge over Interstate 40 for a bridge deck replacement project. The closure will begin Monday, April 2 at 8:00 p.m. and lasting until 6:00 a.m. the next morning. “The 45 Bypass is a main north/south route for motorists in Jackson and surrounding areas, that’s why we have decided to do this work at night,” said Region 4 Director Chuck Rychen. “We encourage motorists to plan ahead and select alternate routes during this bridge repair project.” The US-45 Bypass(SR-186) bridge over I-40 serves approximately 47,300 vehicles a day. During the closure, southbound motorists wishing to access I-40 Eastbound will be detoured along US 412 South (Highland Avenue) to US 45 North (North Parkway) where they can access I-40 East. Southbound motorists may use US 45 South (Highland Avenue) as an alternate route. Northbound motorists wishing to access I-40 Westbound may use US 412 West (Hollywood Drive) as an alternate route or they will be detoured along Vann Drive to I-40 West. All ramps entering and exiting I-40, at the 45 Bypass Bridge will remain open. A map detailing the detour is attached. Click here to view map.
