Madison County Anti-Litter Campaign
The Madison County Anti-Litter campaign is
hosting a trash can decorating contest to raise awareness about litter in
our communities. The name of the campaign is “Put Trash in its Place!” The
contest will award 3 schools with prizes and gifts for the best decorated
trash can. Local students from participating public Intermediate, Middle, and High Schools are decorating the trash cans as a way of encouraging others to not litter or pollute our neighborhoods. These cans will be placed throughout the city as a way to show our civic pride. The contest for the best can will last approximately two weeks, and each business that sponsors a can will have the option of either keeping the garbage can or donating it back to the school that decorated it. After the contest is over, the cans will be
displayed in various locations to celebrate the
artwork and raise awareness about the littering problem in our county. The contest will culminate on September 26th and will be displayed during Fabulous Friday in downtown Jackson. The winners will be announced at the next county commission meeting, set for October 20, 2008. For additional information, please contact Melanie Oliver. Anti-Litter Campaign Coordinator
